in News Headlines,News and Views

Vice-Chancellors from 15 different Pakistani universities will be visiting Bradford for 10 days as they seek to develop a broad understanding of Higher Education within the UK. The programme has been developed by the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education (LFHE), the Pakistan Higher Education Commission, and the British Council.

As well as spending a significant period of time at the University of Bradford, the Vice-Chancellors will make day visits to the Universities of Leeds, York and Huddersfield.

The visit to the University will enable the Vice- Chancellors to identify key issues in developing the management of Pakistani universities, against parallel experiences and initiatives in the UK. It will aid development in the areas of:

•Research and Postgraduate studies
•International strategy
•Governance, strategic management and planning, leadership and resource management •Knowledge transfer, lifelong learning and contribution to regional development.

During the visit, the group will interview a range of ‘witnesses’ who will provide information, experience and documentation relating to the areas of inquiry.

Is this not a wastage of huge money? Do you think these so called officers will learn something useful?

I guess these people visit UK universities every year but no change can be seen in my beloved country.

I agree to you that they will simply waste a lot of money with no use for Pakistan

All I know there was a report read out by me few years ago subjected to “The Most Corrupt Ministries of Pakistan” as far as I remember —MOE— was among in top 5.

In short these sort of foreign tours clearly indicating just for fun & corruption.
