Breaking News Pakistan’s President Musharraf Resigned Today.

“After viewing the situation and consulting legal advisers and political allies, with their advice I have decided to resign,” a grim-faced Musharraf said, backed by Pakistani flags and a portrait of the country’s founder.

“I leave my future in the hands of people.”"Not a single charge in the impeachment can stand against me,” Musharraf said. “No charge can be proved against me because I never did anything for myself, it was all for Pakistan.”

He said that there was now law and order in the country, that human rights and democracy had been improved and that Pakistan was now an crucial country internationally.

“On the map of the world, Pakistan is now an important country, by the grace of Allah,” he said.

The President dismissed the “false allegations” being leveled against him by the coalition government and said he was neither afraid of the charges against him, nor shy to face these through impeachment.

“For me it is always Pakistan first”, Musharraf said and added that politics of confrontation must come to an end and instead a policy of reconciliation be pursued.

He stressed immediate measure be taken to arrest the economic downturn and said the nation has the resilience to withstand any challenge.

He said it was not a time to show bravado, but to get serious as country’s dignity was at stake, the office of Presidency would bear the brunt.

“For 44 years I have safeguarded the country and will continue to do so.”

“No charge sheet can stand against me. Not even a single charge can be proven against me as I have full trust in Allah Almighty and I did everything with the belief of Pakistan First.”

The President said he took all decisions with consultation, took all stakeholders onboard, on the most difficult decisions.

“All stake holders, whether they were soldiers, politicians, bureaucrats, members of civil society, Ulema were consulted in all decisions. “I have nothing to worry about the charge sheet,” Musharraf said.

Strange Statement from the weekest ever prime minister of Pakistan. He hismself do not know who is actually running the Govt. Rehman Malik? Zardari? or Mushharaf ?

“ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousuf Reza Gillani Friday stated in unequivocal terms that no one has the power to dissolve the country’s assemblies.

Talking to senior journalists and columnists here, the Prime Minister said all the issues including judges restoration and President’s impeachment will be resolved in the Parliament.

He said unlike previous governments, the purpose of his scheduled visit to the US is not to strike any kind of deal. All the decisions will be made for the greater interest of the country, he added.

The Premier said important issues including the scourge of terrorism will come under discussion during meeting with the US leaders.

Replying a question regarding US and Saudi aid, he said the good news will be shared with the people as soon as the country receives it.”

Prime Minister First Adress to the Nation

Reference to my earlier post on this subject I was searching what the other bloggers are saying about this address of the prime minister to this poor nation. I found a very interesting blog by Nayni here  is the selection.

Important announcements are expected as PM of Pakistan is going to address the nation today. ( on the behalf of Zardari Jee)

If you want to see that “heeno meeno”on t.v then fine otherwise the following announcements are expected .

- Judiciary will be restored after “any” thirty days .

- We are happy for the fact that we ‘ve add popularity to Murree by keeping Murree declaration alive. We promise that we will always keep this declaration controversial.

Rehman Malik leaves for DubaiRehman Malik

ISLAMABAD: Advisor to Prime Minister on Interior Affairs, Rehman Malik has left here for Dubai where he will meet Co-chairman Pakistan People’s Party Asif Ali Zardari and apprise him about the country’s political as well as law and order situation.

According to sources, Rehman Malik called on the Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Saturday and briefed him about the FATA operation and the objects achieved out of it. The Prime Minister later directed him to meet Asif Ali Zardari and also update him on the latest developments.

Rehman Malik will update PPP Co-chairman about the recent activities of the militants challenging the writ of the government in some parts of NWFP, sources said.

During their meeting Asif Zardari will issue directives in connection with strategy for establishing law and order in FATA, sources added.

They also said that the Asif Ali Zardari will also direct the Advisor to PM to head towards London where Pakistan Muslim League-N Chief is already present.

Pakistan will fight terrorism with iron fist, says Gilani

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said Tuesday Pakistan had suffered more than any other from terrorism and that it would fight the scourge with an “iron fist”.

“The world is facing today the menace of extremism and terrorism which has affected our socioeconomic development,” he said in a speech to a summit of the D8 group of developing countries.

“Pakistan has suffered the most due to this curse,” he said, pointing to the assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto last year which was just one of many acts of violence to hit the country.

“However, such cowardly acts will never dampen our firm resolve to fight terrorism and extremism with iron fist,” he said.

Gilani also said Pakistan was committed to a peaceful resolution of the ongoing conflict with India over held Kashmir.

“We have made positive progress in recent years in our dialogue with India,” he said.

“We are seeking a peaceful resolution for all our outstanding issues including the core issue of Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.”

Javed Hashmi considers NWFP operation as Kargil-II

KARACHI: Muslim League-N leader, Javed Hashmi has said that he considered NWFP underway operation as Kargil-II and the democratic government after such operation falls.

Talking to newsmen on his arrival from Multan at the Jinnah Airport here, Javed Hashmi said that the government was making all major decisions without taking the allied parties into confidence, which would be harmful for the democracy. He said that the Karachi operation-1992 and Kargil operation were the decisions of one individual, while the then Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif was unaware.
