Mobilink Genie Mobile Commerce Coming in Pakistan

It is really a good step taken by the mobile phone company mobilink in Pakistan to introduce a new mobile payments system for the different utilities bills. In countries like UK and USA many phone companies including vodaphone, orange , O2 , T-mobile etc are alreday having more or less similar systems. Now at this stage it is really a big step taken by Mobilink toward mobile phone Commerce. I am expecting soon many more features associated with this service as the ability to shop online on your mobile phone. Mobilink have partner with citibank, KASAB bank, etc to provide this facility.

How to subscribe

Customers can subscribe to Mobilink Genie by sending an SMS with their name to 1610, in the format:

The subscriber will receive a confirmation SMS, containing his/her Genie User-ID and PIN (Personal Identification Number) as well as a URL to download the Genie application. Click on this URL to download the application

Once downloaded and installed, run the Genie application and change your Genie PIN to ensure complete security

In order to start making a payment, an account or credit card has to be enabled in a Partner Bank*(for details on how to enable an account/credit card, refer to appendix)

Once enabled from a Partner Bank, the subscriber will receive a Bank PIN. The subscriber must run the application, go to “Other Options> Manage Account” and change the Bank PIN before conducting any transaction.

Huawei to deploy a commercial WiMAX 16e network for Mobilink

Huawai has signed a contract with Mobilink Pakistan to deploy WiMAX 16e network for Mobilink Infinity services in Pakistan initially in Islamabad, Karachi, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Lahore and Rawalpindi.
Under the terms of this agreement, Huawei will provide Mobilink Pakistan with a high standard WiMAX solution including distributed base stations, an access service network-Gateway and a network management system.
BroadBand WiMax now with MobiLink GSM Pakistan

Mobilink Pakistan has introduced mobilinik infinity (a wimax broadband) service in Karachi today. Mobilink had signed an agreement with motorolla earlier in December 2007 to deliver the design, equipment, and support services of an 802.16e-2005 WiMAX network in Pakistan. Motorola will also supply customer premises equipment (CPE) units.
Mobilink is 2nd to Wateen Telecom which had already announced a WiMax Services in Pakistan

WaridTel Pakistan have launched its services with BlackBerry in Pakistan, PushMail craze is on its climax in the whole world and people in Pakistan are no more different to this craze.
