President Asif Ali Zardari Friday tendered an apology over birth of a child in an auto rickshaw due to blocakage of roads during his (President) visit to Quetta on Thursday.
The President also announced Rs500, 000 for the family.
However, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani showed a non-serious approach on the issue.
It may be reminded here that a woman gave birth to her baby girl in an auto-rickshaw stuck in a traffic jam when police closed roads to let President Asif Ali Zardari’s motorcade drive by.
The woman was being driven to hospital in the city of Quetta on Thursday evening when police blocked roads for Zardari and his convoy to pass.
The woman’s brother Mohammad Yaseen said the rickshaw he had hired to take his sister to the Civil Hospital was stopped by policemen near the Askari Park.
“We waited for around two hours. And despite repeated requests the policemen did not allow us to go to the hospital,” he told this correspondent.
“We pleaded with the policemen as it was an emergency but they refused citing orders that no one should be allowed to move until the president passed,” the brother told reporters.
“The baby was born in the rickshaw, surrounded by vehicles stuck in the traffic jam. At that time police officials allowed us to return,” he said.

of course it is a disapointing situation for all of us, for gave a protocol any body,it is very bad culture in pakistan,
It is criminal when people suffer or even die due to the blocked roads for hours to accommodate arrogant and shady people like Zardari, Gillani, political figures like Nawaz Sharif and others.
When US President or British PM is travelling, only intersections are blocked for few minutes and most of the time helicopters are used in the city for their transportation. Instead of causing tremendous traffic problems our spineless and terrified leaders can also use helicopters if they are so fearful of their own people.
Being very generous Zardari awarded the women Rs five lakhs who had baby in a rickshaw ; I hope he gave that money from his own pocket and not from public treasury.
A great job. I personally appreciate Zardari’ s greateness and expect the same positive attitude from him and his PM regarding the Supreme Court’s decesion.
For the first time Zardari did a good job, he realised this that by blocking the traffic for VIP, how much public sufffer. I wish President,Prime Minister,Opposition leaders and all the idiot Minsters must realise that when they move in the city how much people suffer problems, many times sick people just died in the way when due to vip, the traffic is blocked for many hours. When these democratic leaders who are elected by the public votes why they are so much afraid and the agencies have to stop the traffic for these idiots. If they are so coward why don’t they use helicopter for their movements, so that people should not suffer who are on roads. If they are true muslims and have faith in ALMIGHTY GOD, then they must believe that they will die when the time is fixed for their death, other wise nothing will happen if they will move like an ordinary person. Give some relieve to this poor nation and don’t block the traffic for your own interest. The poor woman has given birth to her child while she was sitting in a RIKSHAW, when the traffic was stopped due to the President, who was moving from one place to another place.
that money is not of Zardaris baap…its our money….
Zardari and Gillani are being hailed by some of being generous for awarding big money to the lady who delivered the baby in a rickshaw.
These two crooks including Nawaz Sharif paid less then 1% tax what they were suppose to pay but they are very generous to hand out public money to hide their guilt and look good in public.
Shame on them.
