Pakistan Muslim League-N Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif said on Saturday that no more talks would be held for political gains and vowed to hold the long march and stage sit-in at all costs.
Talking to senior journalists at Raiwind, Nawaz said he is ready for reconciliation but who will take the guarantee of President Asif Ali Zardari since he had earlier refused to become the president but later did it.
He urged Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to come forward and end present political deadlock. Nawaz also assured the prime minister of his full support.
The PML-N Quaid said no offer has been made from Zardari for talks. Replying to a question, he said Shahbaz Sharif is at Raiwind. Nawaz said the president should take the nation into confidence and he still wanted reconciliation but it all would depend on the president.
The PML-N chief said he would like the government to complete its five-year term but President Zardari should honour his commitments he made to the nation. Replying to a question, Nawaz said that he was not aware of any role by the army chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani to help resolve present political imbroglio.
Nawaz termed the appointment of new judges a violation of the Charter of Democracy (CoD) saying the PPP should honour the charter. Holding Governor Punjab Salmaan Taseer responsible for the present state of crisis, he said President Zardari’s actions belittle his own words.
Nawaz said the real democracy could be restored in the country if the 17th Amendment is abolished. He strongly condemned ban on Geo news saying other news channels could also be targeted.
