overview_hero20090608 Mac OS X 10.6 named as Leopard Snow developer version have been released at wwdc 2009 on June 8, 2009. The public version of MAC OS 10.6 will be released in September 2009 ahead of windows 7 by Microsoft  for which they have announced a date of October 22, 2009.

Apple at its website describe Mac Os 10.6 Snow Leopard as

    Finally the support for PPC have been dropped, yes 64 bit architecture.
