In light of the recent stock market debacle the government is attempting to prevent incidents like these from happening again. Today a news report appeared in Daily Times where the usage of SMS in spreading disinformation about the stock market are deemed as a Cyber Crime and ironically the FIA has been entrusted to ensure that it does not happen in the future.

Overtly it may seem to be an interesting way to solve the panic of any future stock market debacle, but I personally see it as an odd way to solve the underlying problem. One could argue that if a simple SMS message communication to my broker to “SELL SELL SELL” can be attributed to a punishable cyber crime. Then we should hold liable all phone calls made during the stock-market-rumor-mongering period as an equally important punishable crime.

* Fundamentally I believe you cannot condemn the usage of a specific medium (in this case SMS) for its probable repercussions, instead its imperative to develop safe guards to instead hold the traders on the trading floor directly responsible for their actions which may contribute to panic. Deny all you might we all some how knew that this over inflated stock market bubble was going to burst which was all the more evident considering the miserable economic indicators within Pakistan, suffice to say it was on the cards
* Secondly I shudder to see an even more powerful FIA entrusted with dispensing the Cyber Crime law at its own free will, considering the drafted of the Cyber Crime law was shady at best as it failed to provide safe guards for the innocent.

Manipulation of stocks with SMS now a cyber crime

ISLAMABAD: Manipulation of the stock exchange market through short messaging services (SMS) from mobile phones will be treated as a cyber crime, the federal government decided on Sunday.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) will deal with creating disinformation about the stock markets through SMS. The government has also directed the agency to take immediate notice of such cases in future.

The decision to bring the practice under the agency’s supervision comes in the backdrop of a major stock market decline last week, which saw small investors, the most affected by the slide, demonstrating violently outside the major exchanges at Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore.

2. User-B will receive an SMS requesting to permit or deny User-A request

3. User-A will receive User-B’s response to request

4. User-A will get location of User-B through MMS* if approved or a denial message if not

Service Charges for Friend’s Location Finder via SMS

Service Charges for Place Finder via MMS

For each request of finding Friend’s Location, Rs.3 + tax will be charged. On successful receiving of location of place, MMS retrieval charges, i.e. Rs.3 + tax will be deducted from your account.

* Service will not find you friend’s location if his/her mobile phone is switched off
You will need WAP/GPRS activated and settings installed on your handset to access through WAP

*To locate via MMS, you will need to have your MMS activated and settings installed on your handset.

Bangladesh to Offer WiMAX Licenses Following Pakistan WiMAX Boom

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission has published its draft guidelines for issuing Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) licenses. The national licenses are being proposed - two in the 2.3Ghz band and one in the 2.5Ghz band.

The incumbent operators are banned from bidding - and the bidders are limited to having 60% foreign shareholding.

The Licensees will be authorized to develop and operate a telecommunications network to provide nationwide BWA services based on IEEE 802.16e (WiMAX) standards. The system can be point-to-multipoint or mesh radio systems consisting of BWA distribution hub stations and their associated subscriber stations (or BWA access devices). The last mile solution may be done in conjunction with WiFi.

The operators and end-users are allowed to use their equipment in fixed locations, in a nomadic manner or with a fully mobile capability, at their choice.

Interestingly, the draft proposals will mandate that all the licensed operators will have to share the same tower and the existing infrastructures.

How to Design WordPress Themes Lesson One

I am big fan of wordpress as a CMS but at the same time was wasting a lot of time to find a wordpress them of my choice. Then I decided to make some of my own wordpress themes.

Now here I am sharing with all how to design a wordpress them in a series of lessons.

This first lesson will try to cover a) Some Basic Rules and introduction of different terms 2nd lesson will be on Wordpress structure and hierachy

Basic Rulles

1. Like with every scripting luanguge whenever you open something in a tag please close it properly like <ul> <li> </li> </ul>

2. There should be minimum of two theme files which are essentially required for any theme to work 1. style.css and index.php

3. Creat a new theme folder which should be in a folder ./wp-content/theme

4. You should also know the list of files that can be used with a theme like

• style.css
• index.php
• home.php
• single.php
• page.php
• archive.php
• category.php
• search.php
• 404.php
• comments.php
• comments-popup.php
• author.php
• date.php

right now just look at these file names and i will dicsuss their usuage and details later.

Wordpress terms:

• Template - A set of codes that you can use in multiple places without having to write the same codes again and again.
• Template file - A file that contain one or
  multiple sets of codes (templates). Every page is made up of multiple
  template files. For example: index.php file, style.css file,
  sidebar.php, etc.
• Theme or WordPress theme - All the files you’re
  using: texts, images, codes, etc. Note: WordPress theme and WordPress
  template(s) are two different things, despite some people consider them
  the same.
• Post - Currently, you are reading a post. Furthermore, it’s simply an entry of your blog. In example, one page of a diary.
• Page - A special type of post that is not
  orangized by categories. It is separate from the rest of your posts.
  Note: In WordPress, page and Page are two different things. Whether you
  capitalize the “P” makes a huge difference.

Huawei to deploy a commercial WiMAX 16e network for Mobilink

Huawai has signed a contract with Mobilink Pakistan to deploy WiMAX 16e network for Mobilink Infinity services in Pakistan initially in Islamabad, Karachi, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Lahore and Rawalpindi.

Under the terms of this agreement, Huawei will provide Mobilink Pakistan with a high standard WiMAX solution including distributed base stations, an access service network-Gateway and a network management system.

BroadBand WiMax now with MobiLink GSM Pakistan

Mobilink Pakistan has introduced mobilinik infinity (a wimax broadband) service in Karachi today. Mobilink had signed an agreement with motorolla earlier in December 2007 to deliver the design, equipment, and support services of an 802.16e-2005 WiMAX network in Pakistan. Motorola will also supply customer premises equipment (CPE) units.

Mobilink is 2nd to Wateen Telecom which had already announced a WiMax Services in Pakistan
